The Age of Continuous Transformation

The Age of Continuous Transformation, a Working Futures campaign

Transformation used to have an end date

For most of the last thirty years, transformation was something an organisation did and then finished. A strategy was agreed, a programme ran, the new way of working bedded in and things settled down until the next one came along. That is not how it feels to the HR leaders we speak to. AI, skills, cost pressure, regulation and the shape of the workforce are all moving at once, landing on the same teams in the same quarter, and each one moves the others. There is no steady state to get back to.

We have started calling this 'Continuous Transformation'. It is the idea that change is now part of the day job rather than a project with a finish line, and that HR's job shifts from supporting transformation to building an organisation that can keep on doing it. This campaign - the culmination of which will be Working Futures 2026 on 24th November in London, will explore the different facets of this new model of thinking.

Why Working Futures is running this series

Twice a year we sit down with more than 200 CHROs, CPOs and HR directors and ask them what is really on their desk. Not what is on the horizon, but what they have been asked to deliver and what is getting in the way. This year, the same seven themes kept coming up, whatever the sector or the size of the business.

This series is how we share what we are hearing. Each article takes one of those themes and sets out what is changing, where organisations are getting stuck and what appears to be working. A new article goes live every week in the run up to our event and you will find them all on this page as they land.

It all comes together on 24 November

The series builds towards the day itself. On Tuesday 24 November 2026, Working Futures brings senior HR leaders together at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, St Paul's, London, and the same seven themes run through the agenda. The articles set out the questions. On the day, you get to put them to peers who are dealing with the same pressures, and to the practitioners and experts who have been through them. Our keynote speaker is David Liddle, founder and CEO of The TCM Group.
